  just a thought, which no doubt has been already expressed on here, if not in the same form.

  we know how much emphasis the wts puts on teaching that the gospels are authentic historical reports.

  however, we can see at least one domain where this historicity must be considered cautiously.

  what is the deal with this?

  it seems i hear more and more about some jw woman who is a massage therapist.

  i can't think of a more unseemly occupation for a jw woman that is legal.

  My father, who did massage for a chiropractor's office in NJ for a while taught me the business... while a JW I was too afraid to persue it as a profession because of the sexual tensions I knew it would cause. since leaving JWs I regularly massage nude dancers at a local strip club and they love it... there is no sex involved and most of the time I dont feel any arosual at all... but when I do, I just get a lap dance from her (^_^). While massage by itself is non-sexual, the mind and beliefs of the participants cannot be removed from the equation. Just like nudist resorts do not allow sex on the premises nor even male arousal... many of the nudists I have come to know over time are swingers... so while nudity and sex can be separated in practice, in reality their seperation is only by degree and location... humans are sexual animals just like all the others on the planet...why make such a big deal out of sex? because religion has found it the easiest to manipulate and guilt people into submission.

  its like Saccharin, very sweet at the beginning but leaves a bitter after taste that lets you know it was not natural but man made

  as many of you know i have been looking abit closer at the teachings of the wtbts or is it the fds or is it the governing body, its all abit cloudy now.

  anyway my point is this - is it deception (a deliberate attempt to mislead people) or is it that they are misguided (think they are right but are not).

  my own opinion - i think they are in the middle somewhere.

  though some on here believe otherwise, I personally KNOW by direct experience they willfully lied about the subliminal issue whether they were trying to cover up a rogue artist, or the fact that they were using other people's art work, complete with subliminals and not crediting their sources, in some cases... the point is that they KNEW it existed, and made sure that anyone who ever noticed anything out of the ordinary would be DF'd if they brought it up.

  I think its a subtle form of hypnosis... it causes a sort of tunnel vision. when I was an active borg drone, I would discover something that caused doubts... but I would only see it in isolation against all the other things I held true and did not question [yet]... after my theological implants failed, my now Ex and I sat down and discussed ALL of our doubts and for the first time saw them in a pile-- a very big pile at that, astounding to us --but not when you consider the power of suggestion and fear and other emotional effects on attention. I have experienced tunnel vision in the grip of addiction... to the point where the JW advise to PRAY to Jehovah was completely absent until afterwards... which made me ponder how I could be held accountable when I was incapacitated so completely...was it my fault I was designed this way?

  Is it bad to be an agnostic?

  on a prior thrread someone asked about one true religion .

  i think that is kind of agnostic thinking .

  as i grow older and develop more perspective on life it seems that an agnostic view is really just an honest view no dogma no preconcieved ideas just observations.

  as an agnostic I can say, I believe there is an ultimate reality with a true nature and that I have found no way to tell what that is...and dont believe anyone else has either...and that is honest.

  I have met plenty who claim to KNOW that God is real....how? by faith! they tell me... to which I respond that is not knowledge, that is pretending to know what you only believe....or lying.

  a true man of faith can be an agnostic, ie, honest.

  you can have FAITH in God without pretending to KNOW you are right.

  your experience of God does not mean it WAS God...the experience was REAL but your belief about it does not follow just because you have a FEELING of certainty and another belief that this feeling could not be wrong.

  subsequently, putting their faith in the men that interpret the bible for them.

  one thing that occurred to me listening to the bible answer man program...

  here people like JWs and this radio guy claim to believe in this all knowing, all wise being

  who gave us his word and inspired the bible, but apparently was too stupid to get it right

  without their help...
